We have movies. Tell Your Friends.

A lot of people ask how to help the theater recover, and usually they have money in mind. To date, we haven’t taken any cash. Donations are a gift we couldn’t repay, and it’s not something we’ll ever feel comfortable with.

Besides, money isn’t what we need. As time goes on, we find ourselves wandering further into the cinematic weeds. When we book something like Inu-oh, Vesper, or the upcoming Dark Glasses, the biggest challenge is getting word out. These aren’t movies with big national campaigns behind them.

If you want to help us out, it’s easy: when we’re playing something you think is cool, tell your friends, and maybe invite them along. It may not seem like much, but it means the world to us.

the films of Dario Argento

October 21-26

After a decade away, the master of giallo filmmaking is back with Dark Glasses. Dark Glasses is a return to form for the director, with all the murder, mystery, and style you’d expect.

We’ll also be playing a handful of Argento classics, including his genre defining debut The Bird with the Crystal Plumage, the rarely shown unedited cut of Deep Red, and the underrated classic Cat O’ Nine Tails.

Notcool Presents: Only Lovers Left Alive

Notcool is back with another Sunday brunch movie. Join us at noon on Sunday, Oct 23 for a vampire movie only Jim Jarmusch could make. Only Lovers Left Alive is a witty, thoughtful film anchored by excellent performances from Tilda Swinton and Tom Holland.

Like last time, we’ll be pouring mimosas until we run out, which hopefully won’t be so quick this round. Apparently you all drink mimosas like water on Sunday morning. Lesson learned.

FISK presents: House

At 7:00 on Thursday, October 27 we’ll team up with the Portland graphic design studio FISK to present the indescribable horror head trip House. If you aren’t familiar, here’s the trailer, which sort of gives you an idea what you’re in for. Sort of.

The godforsaken curtain is broken again

That’s all. I don’t really have anything to add here. Just know that every time you see that curtain open, it’s a minor miracle.
