Multiple Pinocchio
Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio
Beginning on November 23rd, we’ll be one of a small number of theaters playing Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio. We haven’t been shy about our fondness for both animation and the films of Del Toro, so we’re really excited to bring his first stop-motion feature to the big screen. So excited, we lined up something special…
Opening night animation team q&A
On Wednesday, November 23 we will be joined by members of the team at Portland based ShadowMachine, the studio behind Pinocchio’s boundary pushing stop-motion animation. They’ll be watching the movie with us, and hanging around afterwards for a Q&A.
In attendance will be: Gavin Brown, Lighting & Camera; Jared Bumgarner, Production Scheduler; Rob Desue, Art Director; Holly Klein, Editor; Shami Lang-Rinderspacher, Animation Rigger; Jan Maas, Lead Animator; Caitlin Pashalek, Lead Landscape Fabricator; Jason Ptaszek, Camera Assistant & Timelapse Photographer.
The movie starts at 7:00, but we’ll be opening the doors extra early (6:20, to be exact) to make sure things go smoothly.
VHS Night:
A Very Different Pinocchio
You may not believe it, but we scheduled the Pinocchio themed Silent Night Deadly Night 5: The Toy Maker weeks before we knew we’d play Del Toro’s Pinocchio. Call it serendipity.
Silent Night Deadly Night 5, like most high-numbered straight to VHS sequels, has nothing to do with the films that preceded it. What it does have is murderous Mickey Rooney, effects from Screaming Mad George (Predator, Society), and one of the strangest finales ever put on film.
