Boring Stuff
Last week we did some serious maintenance on our screen. First, we cleaned it, which is no small thing. Theater screens are fragile, and cleaning them properly requires hours of tedious work. After that we re-fit the black curtains around the screen so they fit the image perfectly.
In the end it took 3 days. It’s the kind of detail work most theaters don’t bother with because it’s not obvious, and it’s useless for promotion. “The cleanest, most accurately framed screen in town” is hardly a buzzy tagline.
As the industry changes, more and more theaters are becoming restaurants first, and movie houses second. There’s nothing wrong with that, but it’s not what we do. We play movies, and we focus our resources on the quality of the presentation before anything else.
That’s not to say things will never change. We’re thinking hard about ways to bolster concessions, and improve the before-show experience. Just know that whatever happens, the movies will always come first.
Top Gun: Maverick
We haven’t seen Top Gun: Maverick yet, but we know people who have, and they’ve got us excited. These are the kind of folks who would happily talk trash about a movie like Top Gun, but so far every single one has loved the film. With a RottenTomatoes score of 97%, they aren’t alone.

ROBOT JOX
VHS NIGHT
You asked, we listened. Robot Jox is our most requested VHS Night feature, and it’s easy to see why. It’s a goddamn blast. It’s the perfect cocktail of bizarre acting choices, low budget ambition, and giant robots punching each other.
For those unfamiliar, Robot Jox is a post-apocalyptic-science-fiction-mecha-action-satire directed by Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator). If that sounds like a lot, that’s because it is. Like all the best B-movies, Robox Jox doesn’t let restraint get in the way of a good time.
