HOBBITS, LEGOS, MONKEY.

That, ladies and gentlemen, is the kind of newsletter title you get when we’re well past deadline and very tired. Buckle up, there’s gonna be typos.

The Lord of the Rings - Extended Edition

After the completion of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Peter Jackson was given the opportunity to revisit the films and create new, expanded versions. Though made with the level of technical polish you’d expect from a theatrical release, the Extended Edition has been mostly relegated to home video.

This week we’ll be playing the extended cut of all three films, complete with an intermission.

The Fellowship of the Rings: Extended Edition plays Friday (6/23) at 7:00.
The Two Towers: Extended Edition plays Saturday (6/24) at 6:00.
The Return of the King: Extended Edition plays Sunday (6/25) at 6:00.

The Lord of the Rings - Theatrical Cut

The Two Towers plays Tuesday (6/27) at 7:00.

Peter Jackson’s King Kong

After the massive success of the Lord of the Rings Peter Jackson had a blank check to make any movie he wanted, and he chose a sprawling reimagination of King Kong.

Jackson took everything he learned on the trilogy, and crafted one of our favorite big-screen experiences. If you missed it the first time, or you’ve only seen it on TV, it’s definitely worth the trip.

King Kong plays Thursday (6/29) at 7:00. Tickets

The Lego Movie

We try to fit in a family matinee every chance we get, so when we found ourselves with a surprise opening this Saturday we booked a couple shows of The Lego Movie. We’ll be running two shows this time, so folks who can’t make the noon show have a second option.

The Lego Movie plays Saturday (6/24) at Noon and 2:30. Tickets

Almost 2 years…

We’re coming up on our second anniversary, which means that a few annual traditions are about to make their return. Will there be a John Carpenter binge? Will there be blood? Stay tuned.
