Playing Catch-up

Be it bad weather or booking conflicts, we don’t get to play every movie we want. This week we’re playing catch-up with couple delayed events, and some of our 2023 favorites we missed the first time around.

The Holdovers reunites Sideways alums Paul Giamatti and director Alexander Payne in a story of three lonely, shipwrecked people at a New England boarding school over a very snowy holiday break in 1970.

The Thursday, February 8th show will be followed by a Q&A with production designer Ryan Warren Smith (The Holdovers, True Detective, Green Room).

Sun (2/4) 2:30, Mon (2/5) 7:00
Wed (2/7) 4:10, Thu (2/8) 7:00

When two brothers discover a demonic infection festering in a nearby farmhouse, they attempt to evict the victim from their land. Failing to adhere to the proper rites of exorcism, their reckless actions trigger an epidemic of possessions across their rural community. Now they must outrun an encroaching evil as it corrupts and mutilates everyone in its path.

Fri (2/2) 7:00, Sun (2/4) 8:30
Tue (2/6) 4:40, Wed (2/7) 7:00

When her husband is found dead in the snow below their secluded chalet, Sandra becomes the main suspect when the police begin to question whether he fell or was pushed. With conflicting evidence and inconsistent testimony, words are wielded like weapons and shocking truths come to light in this thrilling Palme d’Or winner.

Sun (2/4) 5:20, Mon (2/5) 3:45
Tue (2/6) 7:00, Thu (2/8) 3:45

The Gamera Trilogy was the first casualty of snowmageddon ‘23, but thankfully we were able to reschedule. We’re going to play all three films from the Heisei trilogy one more time, and cap things off with a Q&A with Ayako Fujitani, who very graciously found time for the make-up shows.

Saturday (2/3)
2:30 - Gamera: The Guardian of the Universe
4:40 - Gamera 2: Attack of Legion
7:00 - Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris

Q&A with series lead Ayako Fujitani following Gamera 3

FAMILY FLIX
february 4

Would you like to build a snowman? Too bad. This is Portland. It only looks like snow, it’s actually some sort of ice-sand you can barely walk on. Frozen was our second weather delay, and will now run on February 4.
