First Friday - Late - Cheap
“Sam Peckinpaw, Martin Scorsese, DePalma and Hitchcock never went far enough,” Roscoe West screams as he sends his knife careening into his latest victim. Wings Hauser (A Soldiers Story, Deadly Force) teams up with Michael J. Pollard (Dick Tracy, Bonnie & Clyde) to solve a string of murders that are reminiscent of famous Hollywood death scenes. Roscoe’s ‘high noon’ is a ‘midnight showdown’ exploding on the streets of Hollywood. This intense drama also features a fine supporting cast with Kathleen Kinmont, (Halloween IV, Rollerblade, Bride of Re-animator), Sarah Douglas (Superman, Beastmaster II) and Sydney Lassick (One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest).

VHS Night isn’t just about watching the finest rental store staples of the 80’s and 90’s. It’s a celebration of filmmaking without a safety net, where malfunctioning props were the norm and bad takes had to stay. The end results vary wildly in quality (often within the same movie), but even at their worst these movies are full of ambition, heart, and ideas way too strange for mainstream Hollywood.
Yeah, we play these movies on VHS. It looks kind of cool on the big screen, and some of these movies were never released in any other format.
