Slightly Fewer Dismemberments

A few weeks ago we re-launched 35mm film at the Cinemagic. It’s been a blast, but we haven’t really had time to enjoy the results. We’re going to slow things down for a couple days, and play a few personal favorites. After that, we’re going to take a break from 35mm for a couple weeks and play every single The Fast and The Furious movie, because it sounds like fun.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail (35mm)

We didn’t mean to, but so far every movie we’ve played on 35mm has been a pretty gnarly horror film. We wanted to mix things up, so we’re going to play our 35mm print of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, which only has comedic decapitations.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail plays Friday (5/12) at 7:00, and Saturday (5/13) at 4:00. Tickets

Ator the FIghting Eagle and DEad Heat

Ator: The Fighting Eagle is a deeply silly Italian Conan knockoff, and Dead Heat is an 80’s zombie/buddy cop mashup. Both will be played off remarkably well preserved 35mm prints. These are personal favorites of ours, and we’d been looking for an excuse to put them on screen. A $5 double-feature during a heat wave seemed like exactly the right time.

P.S. - You don’t have to watch both, we’ll keep the box office open all night.

Ator The Fighting Eagle plays Saturday (5/13) at 7:00. Dead Heat plays Saturday (5/13) at 9:00. Come for one or both, $5 gets you in all night. Tickets

Notcool presents: Miami Vice

When Miami Vice released in 2006, we were too busy dunking on Colin Ferrell and his mullet to realize that director Michael Mann had crafted a very cool, neon lit mood piece disguised as an action movie. Almost 20 years later, we’ve realized that Ferrel is a great actor, and that sometimes a mullet is the right call.

Miami Vice plays Sunday (5/14) at noon. Tickets

All the FAST and the Furious movies

We’re going to play The Fast and the Furious 1 through 9, before the release of Fast X on Thursday. The Fast movies are big, dopey blockbusters done right. If you’ve written them off, do yourself a favor and check one out. You just might enjoy yourself.

If you’re already on board, we’ll be selling a 9 movie Fast and the Furious Family Pass for $45 (only for sale at the box office, silly button included).

The Fast and the Furious plays Sunday (5/14) at 3:00. 2 Fast 2 Furious plays Sunday (5/14) at 5:30. The Fast and the Furious [3]: Tokyo Drift plays Sunday (5/14) at 8:00. Fast and Furious [4] plays Monday (5/15) at 5:30. Fast Five plays Monday (5/15) at 8:00. Fast and Furious 6 plays Tuesday (5/16) at 5:15. Furious 7 plays Tuesday (5/16) at 8:00. The Fate of the Furious [8] plays Wednesday (5/17) at 5:15. F9 plays Wednesday (5/17) at 8:00. Fast X premieres Thrusday (5/18) at 7:00. Tickets

It’s stupid hot outside

A big part of the reason for our lineup this week is to give people in the neighborhood a cheap place to get out of the heat. In theory, you could watch 13 movies at the theater this week for $73. I’m not recommending that, you know, it’s an option.
